If you would like the chance to explore how to do this – how to play harmony lines\, how to begin creating your own\, how to accompany other players – then this is the workshop for you. Grace and Stewart will be teaching us tunes\, and will bring suggestions for harmonies\, as well as giving the chance to explore other ideas to create a wonderfully rich fiddle sound. SUMMARY:NEFS Winter Residential Weekend 2023
DESCRIPTION:NEFS Residential WeekendFri 1st Dec\, 5pm – Sun 3rd Dec\, 11.30 amShepherds Dene Retreat Centre \nAfter enjoying the December residential weekend last year\, and with all the lovely feedback received\, we have decided to repeat the event. We are delighted to be returning to Shepherds Dene Retreat Centre near Riding Mill in Northumberland and look forward to their wonderful hospitality. \nThis weekend will include our usual Saturday Workshop for Block 6\, which will be on Saturday 2nd December 10.00 am – 5.00 pm. There will be three tune workshops and a session during the day\, which will give us a chance to learn new tunes\, work on the relevant techniques\, and play some of our NEFS tunes together. \nIn addition\, we will begin the weekend on Friday evening with dinner and an informal session\, and there will be an option to book Bed & Breakfast\, so you can stay over\, ready for the workshop on Saturday. After the workshop on Saturday\, they is the option to stay for dinner\, and to join us for the evening which will include a session. The bar will be open to purchase drinks and there is again an option of bed and breakfast\, so you can relax and enjoy the evening. \nThere will be more tunes and technique on the Sunday morning\, and this year we will be finishing with coffee before we head home at 11.30 am. \nFull information can be found on the NEFS Winter Residential 2023 page. DESCRIPTION:NEFS Residential WeekendFri 2nd – Sun 4th December 2022Shepherds Dene Retreat Centre \nFor full details\, see the NEFS Residential Weekend web page. \nWe will be holding our first in-person NEFS Residential Weekend at the beautiful Shepherds Dene Retreat Centre near Riding Mill on Friday 2nd – Sunday 4th December 2022. \nThis weekend will include our usual Saturday Workshop for the block\, which will be on Saturday 3rd December 10.00 am – 5.00 pm. There will be three tune workshops and a session during the day\, which will give us a chance to learn new tunes\, work on the relevant techniques\, and play some of our NEFS tunes together. Tea and coffee is provided\, and there is the option to add lunch provided by the venue. Otherwise you are welcome to bring a packed lunch\, or to drive down into Riding Mill for something to eat. The lunch break will be 1 hour long. \nIn addition\, we will begin the weekend on Friday evening with dinner and an informal session\, and there will be an option to book Bed & Breakfast\, so you can stay over\, ready for the workshop on Saturday. \nAfter the workshop on Saturday\, they is the option to stay for dinner\, and to join us for the evening. We are planning a short informal concert to inspire and entertain you\, and this will be followed by a session. The bar will be open to purchase drinks and there is again an option of bed and breakfast\, so you can relax and enjoy the evening. \nOn Sunday morning\, some short 1-1 sessions with Stewart will be available for those who are interested\, and we will recap Saturday’s tunes\, or learn a new one\, depending on what people would like to do. We will finish the weekend with lunch provided by Shepherds Dene before we head home. \nWe have come up with some packages to allow you to book the events you wish to attend. These include the following options: \n\nSaturday Workshop (tea & coffee included\, bring a packed lunch\, or…)\nadd Lunch provided by the venue during the Saturday workshop\nEvening meal and a session (Friday evening\, and/or Saturday evening including the concert)\nBed & Breakfast on Friday and/or Saturday night\nSunday workshop and lunch\n\nSome or all of these options can be booked as packages\, with residential and non-residential options available. DESCRIPTION:2022 Block 6 Online \n\n5 week course of fully-online fiddle tuition\, accessible from anywhere and at any time.\nThree in-depth sets of Video Tutorials\, aimed at either Level 2 and Level 3\, but available to all. Each set of videos includes technique\, a tune taught by the phrase and a detailed look at bowing\, ornamentation or stylistic interpretation. Two tunes will be new for this block\, and one will be a revision tune from a previous block.\nWednesday evening live Zoom calls\, including Fiddle Practice\, a Technical Nugget and Live Teaching call for new tunes on Zoom.\nRecordings of Zoom calls available for catch-up.\nTunes and tuition from both Melissa and Stewart.\n\n\n\n This block runs from Weds 2nd – Weds 30th November\, with an optional Social Play-along on Weds 7th December. \nCost is £65 for the five week block. \nThe Block 6 in-person Workshop will be held on Sat 3rd December as part of the NEFS Residential Weekend\, and packages for the day or weekend can be purchased separately. \n Please email or use the contact form for with any queries.
