Ways into Creativity in Folk Fiddle

with Stewart Hardy and Grace Smith
Includes:
- In-person tuition focusing on developing fiddle tunes with bass lines, riffs, rhythmic claves, harmony lines and chords, and creating and harmonising pentatonic tunes.
- Tuition provided by Grace Smith and Stewart Hardy
- The day will finish with a tutor-guided session
- Full access to the Live Tunes web page for session resources
Tea and coffee are provided in the breaks, but lunch is not included. Please bring a packed lunch, or there are places available to buy lunch in Riding Mill.

There is also a Saturday Workshop, as part of the NEFS SWW 2026 on Saturday 4th July, learning tunes and fiddle techniques from The Wider World of Jigs, with Stewart Hardy and Grace Smith. A £5 discount is applied in your basket if you buy both days.
There will also be a concert from Bottle Bank Band on Saturday evening at 7.30 pm, followed by a music session for all. Free entry, but donations to cover the event will be gratefully received.
The workshop will be run with an awareness of the current COVID-19 situation. By attending an in-person event organised by NEFS, you agree to follow the guidelines, and any further reasonable requests made by the venue, the Tutors or Directors, to keep the group safe and all attendees feeling as comfortable as possible.
